Windows Server 2025 Standard with 5 User CALs – 16 Core combines a Windows Server 2025 Standard 16-core licence with five Windows Server User CALs for businesses that need a modern Microsoft server platform with licensed user access.
Windows Server 2025 Standard supports common business workloads including Active Directory, file and print services, DNS, DHCP, application hosting and Hyper-V virtualisation. The five included User CALs grant access rights to five licensed users, with each licensed user able to access the server from multiple devices, subject to Microsoft’s licensing terms.
Core coverage, CAL assignment, transfer and reactivation rights are subject to Microsoft’s applicable licence terms and product conditions.
Windows Server Standard uses Microsoft’s Per Core/CAL licensing model. For a physical server, the required number of core licences is based on the number of physical cores, subject to Microsoft’s minimum licensing requirements for each physical processor and for the server as a whole.
A 16-core licence pack can cover the minimum server-level core requirement for qualifying hardware with up to 16 physical cores, provided the hardware configuration also meets Microsoft’s applicable processor-level minimums. Servers with more than 16 physical cores require additional core licences.
When all physical cores on the server are correctly licensed, Windows Server 2025 Standard provides rights to run up to two Operating System Environments (OSEs). Microsoft also permits a physical OSE to be used for hosting and managing the virtual OSEs under the applicable licensing conditions.
If additional virtual OSEs are required, the Standard edition can be licensed again for the same server in accordance with Microsoft’s licensing rules.
For current licensing information, review Microsoft’s Windows Server 2025 licensing guidance.
A Windows Server User CAL grants one assigned user the right to access appropriately licensed Windows Server software. It does not include the server operating system itself and does not increase the number of licensed physical cores.
User CALs are useful when one person needs access from several devices. A licensed user can access the server from a desktop, laptop, tablet or other eligible device, subject to Microsoft’s licensing terms.
This package includes five User CALs. If more than five users require access to the server, additional User CALs will normally be required. Microsoft also offers Device CALs for environments where several people share a smaller number of devices.
For more information, see Microsoft’s Client Access Licensing guidance.
Windows Server 2025 Standard is designed for professional server environments and supports services such as Active Directory Domain Services, centralised authentication, file storage, print services, DNS, DHCP and compatible line-of-business applications.
The platform also includes Hyper-V technology for virtualised workloads together with security and management capabilities for modern Windows Server deployments. Feature availability can depend on server hardware, configuration and the specific roles being used.
Windows Server 2025 Standard with 5 User CALs – 16 Core is suitable for small businesses, offices and IT environments that need a Windows Server 2025 Standard deployment with access rights for five named users.
It can be used for domain services, centralised file storage, application hosting and lightly virtualised environments. Organisations planning more than five users, more than two virtual OSEs or a server with more than 16 physical cores should review the additional licensing required before deployment.
This product is delivered digitally. After payment confirmation, licence information and installation or activation guidance are sent electronically. No physical disc or boxed product is shipped.
Please confirm your server’s processor and physical-core configuration, required number of users and intended virtualisation setup before purchase so that the licensing configuration matches your environment.
If you need access rights for a larger team, see our Windows Server 2025 Standard 16 Core + 10 User CALs package.
slmgr /ipk and slmgr /ato from an elevated command prompt.
User CALs are licence rights, not software. They are not entered into Windows Server. Keep the licence document from your order for your records.
Microsoft lists mainstream support until 14 November 2029 and extended support until 15 November 2034.
No. CALs are licences for compliance and are not installed or activated.
